Play by: Milo Ventimiglia!! :3 *twirls
Appearance: Demetrio is quite tall, standing at about 6'2. His height does make him a bit intimidating, but his always happy smile makes that feeling go away easily. His coconut-shell colored eyes also seem to "smile" whenever he does, hopefully trying to make a person feel a bit safer around him. His inky black hair is always very neatly brushed, and there usually isn't a single strand that is sticking upwards, or out of place. The hair barely goes any farther than the ears, though, so it's quite easy to take care of.
He is a bit muscular, but he keeps it a bit subtle, always wearing long sleeved shirts to cover it up. His button up shirts are always kept buttoned up to the last one, making sure that almost nothing is revealed. He had wanted to keep the effect of him being a "skinny, fragile man", so that people can trust him a bit more easily.
Which is always good in this strange new world.
Personality: Demetrio is, overall, a very nice guy. He always tries to "father" some of the students that need help, feeling as though it's the right thing to do. Heck, he'll father anyone, feeling as though he's a good listener, which he is. He'll also try to give some advice in a time of need, and many of the students (and a few teachers) thank him for this. The students who tend to have him are always happy to see him, especially since he tries to make teaching fun by making some fun assignments, or some group projects.
But behind that happy attitude is someone completely different. You see, Demetrio is... well, he's a bit of a pervert. But not just any kind of pervert, oh no. Demetrio is gay, so it's almost no question why he had decided to teach the boys in the school. Of course, though, he won't bluntly go up to them and try to make a move on them, oh no. In fact, he tries to act as straight as possible, sometimes getting a glance at a few of the girls to make it seem as though he's normal. And even if he finds a cute looking boy who he's teaching, he wouldn't purposely change their grade merely because of their looks (although, if said kid were to "do some things" for Demetrio, he would be more than happy to change the grades just a bit).
Not like he'd tell anyone that, though.
History: Demetrio had grown up in the heart of Milan, Italy, for the majority of his life. It was his whole life, his whole reason for living, that wondrous city. He had always just loved to walk around the beautiful city, see all the large buildings, watch the people just walk around and laugh and be merry, and just watch the life go by. It was almost too peaceful to be real, in Demetrio's mind. He had grown up with his loving mother, a caring father, and a younger brother as well. His parents were scholars, and had wanted their children to be scholars as well. Both of the children agreed, taking up studying at a very young age. Demetrio had really become interested in history, trying to learn whatever he could about that subject. And as he studied the subject more and more, he became more worldly, and had always wanted to travel to see the places where some great events happened. The only problem was that his family didn't have enough money to go traveling, so that meant that Demetrio would have to stay in Milan for the time being..
But, he was quite fine with that. There was enough to do here, anyway. And he'd find a way to get out of the city soon enough.
Right?
Well, anyway, at the ripe age of sixteen years, Demetrio had his first experience with love, but not in the way he'd expect it. He had actually become interested with the males of the city, instead of the females. It was strange, but he had fallen for the men almost immediately--their muscular bodies; their deep voices; their looks... almost everything about them was perfect. Of course, though, Demetrio made sure to be quiet about it, in fear that his parents might kick him out of the house for his new-found sexuality. So, he had kept quiet about it, only watching his new found loves from afar. But that wasn't going to last forever.
Only a few months later did one particular man catch Demetrio's attention--tall, dark, and very, very handsome. Demetrio was heart-struck, and had mustered up the courage to go talk to him. Turned out the man, Leonardo, was a traveler himself, and even better, was gay himself. Of course, neither had admitted it to the other until Leonardo had guessed Demetrio's sexuality, to which he answered that he was quite interested in him. It seemed as though they had found their loved one, and had been almost inseparable for the longest time.
For three years, the two had "been an item", with the travler sometimes leaving for long periods of time. Of course, Demetrio would always wait for his love, and when he came back, the two would always be together. Then one day, out of the blue, Leonardo had asked Demetrio if he wanted to go on a trip with him, over to Asia, perhaps. Of course, he lept up at the chance, and was excited about finally living his dream and traveling!
The night before they were going to go, Demetrio's boyfriend had asked him to stay over for a few drinks, to celebrate their trip and to their love. Of course, one thing lead to another, and... well, you can guess what happened next.
Afterwards, Demetrio had decided to go back home for a bit to bid his family goodbye one last time. Before he had gotten into the house, he felt as though something was very wrong. His house was too quiet. The lights were off. And Demetrio was getting nervous. He quickly opened the door, turning on the lamp to see what had happened.
And he screamed.
There was his family, on the floor of his living room, all dead with a gunshot to the dead. Obviously, someone must have found out about the boy's love life, and wasn't happy with it. Demetrio went into a state of shock, crying out for his poor family. It wasn't their fault, he thought to himself. Why couldn't they have killed him instead, he was the one who had made the "mistake". Afraid to stay in the house any longer in case the murderer came back, he quickly grabbed his bags and ran out, back to his lover's house.
Only to find him gone.
With a note of apology to Demetrio, but that things had become a bit too hectic and he had to leave immediatly. But, he had made a promise that he would try to come back one day for him. Of course, though, Demetrio didn't take this too well, and just wanted to get away from it all. So, with his small bag of luggage and barely any money on him, he fled from Milan, in order to find a new life, to forget about everything that happened here.
So he went to London, quickly getting an English education and learning English as well. His love for history had made him want to be a teacher, and when he found out that Florence needed a new teacher, he immediatly took up the offer. Finally, a new life was waiting for him--he just needed to make sure he didn't screw it up.
