I'm a man of wealth and taste...
Appearance: A punky little spirit, Tashi wears her white hair short, spiked and nearly shaved on the sides, although it changes from day to day, as she, like all sprites, has some level of control over how she looks. Her eyes, at first glance, are a perfectly normal grey, but look close enough and they seem somehow different from human.
Her cheekbones and jaw are both strong, coupled with a cute upturned nose and easy, mischievous smile, which makes an almost constant appearance along with her bubbly laughter. Her subtly pointed ears bear more than a few piercings, as does her nose and eyebrow, and she has a long clan tattoo winding from her neck down to her upper thigh.
Physically, while she lacks the slim stature of the higher fae, she has a classic hourclass of a figure, set off well by her penchant for short skirts and low-cut tops, ripped burlesque gear, fishnets and other revealing clothing. She is quite a sight for sore eyes.
She is also a little under four inches tall.
Her size is one of many things the little sprite can’t change, but she can turn her intense firefly-like glow on and off, and she’s quite capable of folding away her transparent wings to the point of near-invisibility; when spread, however, they resemble a dragonfly’s.
Personality: ‘Bubbly’ is a good way to describe Tashi. ‘Bloody annoying’ is another. She’s bouncy, hyperactive and easily bored, always laughing and chattering away, darting from one shiny thing to another, always ready to explore any nook and cranny. She finds the strangest things funny, and although she spends most of her time laughing, upset her and her mood swings suddenly to deep, theatrical depression. She has no emotional middle ground; everything is both deadly serious and hilarious.
Another emotional safeguard she lacks is anything approaching fear; she’ll happily face up to a dog armed with just a needle, and she lacks the fear of humans that afflict most of the sprites; she actually loves to watch them, and to play tricks on them; as such, she spends plenty of time hanging around the school - she’s small and quick enough that she can be nearly invisible if she wants to be.
Speaking of, she loves to play tricks, from braiding a sleeping fox's tail into the grass so it pulls up short when it awakens, to stealing small things from student's bedrooms and leading them a merry dance around the woods. She means no real harm, she just finds it fun.
She is, really, a very friendly and gregarious person; she got mixed up with the wrong crowd in the Realms thanks to that, leading to her eventual exile. She likes you, as a default position, even if you sit on her or try to eat her, and although she'll put her hands on her hips and yell at you, the offence will be forgotten in the blink of an eye. For the ‘higher' members of the Realms, though, she reserves a special dislike, which tends to extend to anyone who associates with them.
She is, unfortunately, also an inveterate meddler, with a particular penchant for matchmaking, despite the fact that very few people in the school see much of her. So if you find a love note on your desk that doesn't quite match up to that boy’s handwriting, or your crush's precious lost ring has turned up in your desk drawer, Tashi's probably been about. As she always says, life's been a lot more fun since the school was built.

I've been around for a long, long year...
History: The early life of one sprite is much like that of any other. Tashi was born in the complex hive systems of her clan, and grew up surrounded by thousands of her peers ('grew up' being a debateable term, both in terms of size and personality). She and her gang of friends, who called themselves the East Exit Wanderers, were by far the more adventurous of the young sprites, and tended to fly far afield in the search for fun and adventure.
The East Exit Wanderers had their first encounter with the Higher Fae a long time before they were officially adults. A sidhe lady swatted one of Tashi's friends, breaking his wing. For sprites, a broken wing is a fate worse than death; it means not being able to fly any more. And in the dangerous world of the Realms, a four-inch fairy without flight is doomed.
The Higher Fae did little to dispel Tashi's animosity over the years that followed; from sidhe to centaur to succubus, the denizens of the Realms tended to perceive sprites as little more than annoying insects. Tashi, however, was firmly of the opinion that she and her kind deserved to be treated as a little bit more than that. So when a group of the more downtrodden peoples of Realms approached her hive carrying the idea of revolt (and were summarily dismissed by the hive in the main), Tashi left her friends to follow them.
Obviously, the revolution failed dismally. Tashi was one of the many who were caught; as she was still young and her crimes not too severe, she was allowed to keep both her wings and her life, but was exiled from the Realms. Spat out in the area that would in almost exactly a hundred years become Florence's Academy, Tashi set up home well out of sight of the prying eyes of the people of the town.
Since earliest childhood, she had been taught that humans were shambling monsters. But her early cautious looks left her unconvinced. They seemed quite likeable, really. Especially the children and the teenagers. She showed herself for the first time to a little girl, Charlotte, some ten months after her initial arrival in this world, and when she was neither smashed nor laughed at, she fully dismissed the idea that humans were bad. A little slow, perhaps, and sometimes dangerously stupid, but not bad.
So for years, the children of the town were her playmates. Children would vanish into the cave or the valley, away with the fairies, and come back laughing. But unfortunately, Tashi's somewhat naive trust was shattered the first time an adult saw her, as he tried to crush her, screaming witchcraft and paganism.
After that, she was more careful who she showed herself to. The children saw her less and less. Even after the school arrived, a whole building of potential playmates, she remained wary; it's so hard to tell when a cheery child has become a violently disbelieving adult. Now she plays quiet tricks; the whole school, teachers and students alike, are her unwitting playmates, and she considers all of them her friends.
Family: Most of a hive of sprites, estranged now
Anything you'd like to add? She’s not such a good hider as she thinks she is~
