Brushing snow out of her hair, Lizzie pushed the damp curls back and sat down near the window. "Really? I wouldn't expect you to get along with anyone in your family, to be honest. You and your mum seemed like deadly enemies." She cocked an eyebrow. "Or is that just the deMonte way?

"Any DeMonte with breasts seems to inherit the jackass gene." Clyde explained, looking back at her and raising her own eyebrows. "great family to be born into, I know." She said, stepping out of the way and brushing snow off her shoulders and arms.

Lizzie chuckled. "How determined are they to get you married off, though? Because if my mum and dad have a fault, and they do, it's constantly shipping me off to look for a nice boy to marry."

"They gave up." Clyde said plainly, looking over at Clyde and laughing lightly. She was amused by the statement. "Boys are overrated." She said in a singsong tone, snickering lightly and rolling her shoulders. Sarcastically questioning, "It's because they care, No?"

Lizzie raised a sarcastic eyebrow. "Not surprised. Do they know about your...preferences?" She shrugged. "Whether or not they care, it's damned annoying. I mean, who wants to be dragged off to the bloody sticks of France to meet some up-himself young lord? Boring. Boys are bloody overrated."

Clyde snickered, "I think they figured it out when they found me kissing the neighbor." She suggested simply. She looked at Lizzie sympathetically for a moment, "Kick his ass then." She offered with a smile, "No Lord in his right mind is gonna let his ego get hurt and marry the girl who put him to shame."

Lizzie laughed out loud at that, supressing a twinge of jealousy. "That's one way to find out."
She shrugged. "My parents would utterly destroy me," she replied simply.

Clyde grinned as she laughed, "Yeah. But, they still have Alex, the golden child." She said with a shrug, "No guilt." She then overheard Lizzie's dilemma and shrugged. "You took down a young man, you should kick their asses too!"

"And then you'd have to get a job. Holy shit. Stop the plan." Clyde said sarcastically, glancing at her sideways with a smirk. She rolled her shoulders, pulling on the collar of the shirt slightly. "Go ahead and get your tea." she said, fishing out some coins.

Lizzie rolled her eyes. "Can you see me working? I'm not a peasant. Speaking of, I left my money behind, but I'll pay you back if you lend me a few pence for my tea."

Clyde snickered at her, "Then marry rich. or find a girl who is rich." she pointed out with a smile, nodding, "It's on me. Don't worry about it." she insisted, motioning for her to go order her drink. "I promised you a book too."

Lizzie shook her head. "What do you think my parents are planning for me?" she shrugged, standing up. "True. What do you want?"

"To find a rich man." Clyde suggested, blowing hair out of her face and sliding hands into her pockets. "I'll have the same as you."

"Fair point," Lizzie replied over her shoulder as she headed for the counter, where she ordered for them before returning with a tray of tea and cakes. "There."
