PRESENTING…
Jason Lothor Matthews, as played by Elijah Wood.
”Why greetings, I didn’t even see you there. My name is Jason Matthews… A dreadfully common name, but I am quite okay with that. I don’t have any nicknames and simply go by Jason. If you choose to dub me with a nickname please feel free. I am the lovely age of seventeen and I am quite obviously, of the male sex. Here at Florence’s Academy for the Young I am in the Clique of the Brains. I am simple follower here as I am much too involved in my studies to worry about much else.”
Appearance:
Opinions of Jason Matthews’ appearance, rather as in whether he is “attractive or not”, varies frequently. It all depends on who you ask. Overall, they could all agree that he has the most vivid blue eyes of anyone they have ever seen. Bright and icey, they shimmer deep with the intellect that has seen him well over the years as they have peered out behind his dark, thickly rimmed glasses.
Jason is quite particular about his appearance. He is, as such, always adorned in lovely suits with his hair messy, just the way he likes it. That is unless, of course, if he feels the need to be more comfortable (You know, like if he is having a one of those days or feeling a bit insecure.) then you will find him clad in a his most worn cream “poet’s shirt”, with his favorite suitcoat which is a black in color with a fine dark chocolate design embroidered into the worn jacket, with worn black slacks and dark chocolate shoes that have seen their fair share of daily action. Sadly he is so often in such a mood he’s had to adopt other such outfits and wears the above only when he is feeling particularly dreadful.
Jason has lovely dark chestnut hair, that’s rich with streaks of auburns when the sun hits it. Of course, as previously stated it’s messy. Not to say that he doesn’t brush or wash it, because he does frequently, but as to say his fingers constantly are running through it , as it is a nervous gesture and Jason is always quite anxious, and he has found it much easier to face his hair as a total mess rather than watching it go through a metamorphosis each day from finely combed to out of control and wild. He also has respectably side burns and the occasional whisker when he neglects to shave.
Once you get over the spiky mess atop his head and his radiantly blue eyes peering out of his glasses, you realize that Jason is very short for male; only standing five foot three. He finds this awfully embarrassing as he has not grown a single inch since he was twelve and doubts he ever will. Interestingly enough though Jason is very manly and could never be mistaken for a girl despite his height. His features are very strong with a high forehead and cheekbones to match.
Personality:
Ah, the ever polite Jason Matthews. Jason is a gentleman, and nothing will ever change that. He is all “Thank you, sir”s and “Your welcome, Ma’am”s. Even when he curses he seems polite, that’s just the kind of guy he is. No matter how polite, Jason is no ladies man, despite his fondest dreams. He is, however, a hopeless romantic and desires to find someone to love; be that a man or a woman.
Jason is always a bit neurotic. A stranger wouldn’t notice it in the least and would only see the polite young intellectual. A friend or doctor, however, could spot it in a hot second between his many nervous gestures, constant anxiety, and multiple phobias. This causes Jason to be shy and very quiet; and that causes Jason to be overlooked often. Not only that but sadly since Jason is shy, his has very few friends and tends to be by himself often. He is okay with this, as he is an introvert, but he does often crave the company of someone his age for once.
As mentioned above, he is an intellectual and more so Jason is quite the philosopher and the scientist; always questioning and wondering about the human nature of things and how things work. He almost always finds himself running down the rabbit hole and analyzing things until they are quite useless. As such, Jason, is almost always found with is nose in a book, studying, questioning teachers about the days lesson, or simply just sitting outside on the grounds smoking a pipe and talking to himself. Even more so he is found with Taki, learning the health sciences and tricks of trade from him.
History:
Born and raised in London, Jason Lothor Matthews is the only son of a rich aristocrat and his wife. Once Jason was old enough to not be by his mother’s side any more, his parents being who they are, left him to a nanny so as they could go to parties and swap stories with the rest London’s aristocrats. Alexandra Kliesch, was his nanny and not only did she keep the mansion spotless, but she raised Jason as the polite gentlemen he is. She also placed the spark in him to enjoy learning better than playing. Whether she did this for his own good or so as she wouldn’t have to wash the floors as often is still highly debated, but whatever the reason it made Jason the man his is today.
As Jason grew Alexandra also taught him how to cook, home remedies for illnesses, and attempted to teach the young boy how to ride horses at his parents’ request, which left the poor boy scarred for life, along side with his schooling. While at school Jason was the head of his class and according to the other students, the teachers’ pet, at which his was picked on. As such he often relied on Alexandra to chase them off with a switch and bring them to their parents afterwards, leaving the children in the hands of their angry and embarrassed parents. This of course did not endear him to anyone, but the teasing stopped and Jason was able to make friends with the other students who were at the top of the class with him.
Once Jason turned thirteen his parents shipped him off to Florence’s Academy for the Young, not caring whether he wanted to be there or go to another school. At Florence’s he has stayed, excepted on holidays when he goes back home to visit with Alexandra, as he views her as his only family being as his parents care little for him other than something to brag about and he has no extended family to speak of. While at Florence’s he has found himself in one of the many cliques the school possesses… the Brains, where he is a simple follower as he cares not to be much else. He has also found himself befriending the teachers and in particular the school doctor as he wishes to be a doctor himself one day.
